Northlight Studio
The site had a long north face and a noisy road to the south. That was the whole plan, once we looked at it.
Desks run parallel to the north windows. No one sits in a cave of screens. Pin-up is a full-height board on the inner wall, so reviews happen where the work is, not in a booking calendar. Two plywood rooms take calls and client meetings. They do not pretend to be glass conference boxes; they are rooms.
Concrete is left as found, with felt baffles to pull the echo down. The floor is polished cement, easy to roll chairs and to clean. The studio is a tool. When the lights go off, it should still look like a place where drawings were made that day.
